Psalm 124

A song of ascents. Of David.
 
If the Lord had not been on our side— let Israel say—if the Lord had not been on our side when people attacked us, they would have swallowed us alive when their anger flared against us; the flood would have engulfed us, the torrent would have swept over us, the raging waters would have swept us away.
Praise be to the Lord, who has not let us be torn by their teeth.We have escaped like a bird from the fowler’s snare; the snare has been broken, and we have escaped.Our help is in the name of the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

[1] De n-ar fi fost Domnul de partea noastră, să spună Israel acum! [2] De n-ar fi fost Domnul de partea noastră când s-au ridicat oamenii împotriva noastră, [3] ne-ar fi înghițit de vii când li s-a aprins mânia împotriva noastră; [4] ne-ar fi înecat apele, ar fi trecut râurile peste sufletul nostru; [5] ar fi trecut peste sufletul nostru valurile năprasnice. [6] Binecuvântat să fie Domnul, care nu ne-a dat pradă dinților lor! [7] Sufletul ne-a scăpat ca pasărea din lațul păsărarului; lațul s-a rupt, și noi am scăpat. [8] Ajutorul nostru este în Numele Domnului, care a făcut cerurile și pământul.
